Structure

A radially split plank secured with two pegs on the field surface (L 0.83m; Wth 0.32m; D 0.66m). Woodworking is evidenced by a metal-cut pencil point on one peg and a chisel point and branch-trimming on the other. The site is situated in well-humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
