Grave Yard in County Cork has buried people since at least 1772, when the oldest surviving headstone was set beside the ruined parish church of Kilcully. The rectangular plot holds a stone-faced earthen bank and a road at its south edge, while decayed wooden crosses once marked many graves before stone took their place. It remains active, meaning the dead there are not finished with the living. New markers still join the old ones, keeping the yard in motion rather than locked behind glass.

On N side of road; roughly rectangular graveyard enclosed by stone-faced earthen bank, roadside to S. Ruins of parish church of Kilcully (CO063-06502-) to N of centre. Headstones date from 1772, early in this century 'many of the graves marked by decayed wooden crosses' (Coleman 1913-16d); still in use.
