Font in Kilberry

Font

What is recorded here

Kilberry stands in County Meath beside a rectangular limestone font whose circular basin still holds water for new life. The stone sits west of the church inside the graveyard, waiting for hands that may have washed children clean since before written memory. Its smooth edges suggest repeated use, while the buried dead around it suggest patience.
A rectangular limestone font (dims 0.68m x 0.62m; H 0.46m) with a circular basin (diam. 0.47m; D 0.26m), which has had two angles chamfered off (Roe 1968, 123) is W of the church (ME018-022----) within the graveyard (ME018-022001-). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 6 June, 2014
