Tonakilla Fort

Archaeological place

What is recorded here

Tonakilla Fort in Annagh, County Kerry, was a substantial early medieval cashel approximately 41 metres across, but human hands and time erased its walls before the 1841 survey. The community redirected the forgotten boundary into a cillín for infants excluded from consecrated ground, while nearby gallauns preserved a shadow of older stone. That layer of childhood loss, domestic enclosure and prehistoric memory remains hidden beneath an ordinary field, waiting for imagination rather than eyes.
Tonakilla Fort is recorded as a archaeological place in County Kerry. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
