This record refers to the castle, known as 'Castle Mac Ellistrum' which was held in 1641 by Christopher Walsh. Its location is marked on the OS 6-inch map (1st ed). Christopher Walsh held Castle Macallistrum, Balloonagh in 1641. It is remembered as a documented site during the turbulent period of Irish history associated with land ownership and conflict in the early 17th century.
