National Monument No. 57. Discovered in 1975 during a routine clean-up of the interior of the ancient church at Ratass (Fanning and Ó Corráin 1977) the stone has been set up beside the N wall of the nave. It consists of a fine purple sandstone, 1.45m high x 0.34m x 0.20m, bearing a simple Latin cross and the following inscription: [A]NM SILLANN MAQ VATTILLOGG. The edge of the stone 'appears to have been deliberately dressed or shaped and the incisions are clean, regular and unweathered' (ibid., 14) This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
