What is recorded here
Clear water, quiet distance, and the memory of shipwrecked men make the place more profound than most grand monuments. Burial Ground holds those losses without warning or display. The chamber is narrow and unsteady, but the meaning is immediate. What is missing becomes visible in the way the room leans toward life.
Situated on top of a low, but prominent, heather-clad hill, affording panoramic views in all directions.
This burial ground consists of a rectangular area (22.9m N-S; 20.85m E-W) enclosed by a relatively modern stone wall. The interior ground level is uneven. According to local information, it was used as a burial place of unbaptized babies and of drowned sailors who were washed up on the island. No headstones are visible. There is a dense growth of ferns in the interior.
