Hut site in Inchincoosh

In rough hill pasture, in a sheltered hollow on a SE-facing slope, overlooking the Thureehouma stream and within a network of relict field boundaries (KE085-041003-). The remains of an oval hut site (3.4m E-W; 2.3m N-S) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.5m) set on a grass-covered base of earth and stone. There is an entrance (Wth 0.4m) at S and a slight break at W. The E wall is covered with grass and heather. The hut site is obscured by a thick growth of ferns. There is another hut site (KE085-041002-) 1m to the N. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
