What is recorded here

Mound in Hughstown is a small tumulus, nine metres across, set on the inner rampart line at the western edge of the hillfort and touching the highest ground on the hill. It rises two metres downslope but only half a metre upslope, making it less like a grand monument and more like a stone-packed knot in the rampart itself. Perhaps someone buried there, perhaps someone marked a boundary or a warning. Either way, the mound still sits where the hillfort reaches its top, as if the dead or the remembered helped complete the defences.
