House

On a ridge of rock outcrop in upland region with panoramic views in all directions. Evidence of earthworks on aerial photographs (CUCAP 1968, AVS 49) which are suggestive of a medieval or post-medieval settlement around the church (TS054-009001-). Possible house, 45m NW of the church, consists of a rectangular grassed-over wall-footings (Wth 0.8m crest, 1.3m base; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.26m) aligned NE-SW (dims. 12.1m NE-SW; 6.2m NW-SE) with a gap (Wth 2m), probably an entrance, in the SE wall and a rectangular return midway along the NW wall (dims. 6.1m NE-SW; 5.1m NW-SE) with an gap (Wth 0.9m) in the NW wall into the return and a gap (Wth 1m) in the SW wall of the return. The wall-footings of two other possible house sites have been identified (TS054-009004-; TS054-009005-) the former being 35m to the SE, the latter 20m SE of the church, a large enclosure (TS054-009006-) 27m to the NE and a smaller enclosure (TS054-009007-) which encloses an area immediately NW of the church.
