Slane Lower By. holds a square stone, thirty inches tall and fourteen across, still standing on an east-facing slope after a nearby barrow disappeared around 1960. The lost mound may have marked burial, ceremony or ownership, while the surviving stone denied that loss by refusing removal. Neither explains the other without invention, but together they preserve a place where human hands shaped land and memory resisted forgetting.

Located on an E-facing slope. There are local reports from 1967 of a possible barrow (ME006-014001-) that had been removed c. 1960 and had been W of a stone ‘14 inches by 14 inches and 3 feet 10 inches high (dims c. 0.35m x c. 0.35m; H c. 1.15m)’.
