Childrens Burial Ground

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Childrens Burial Ground stands in County Mayo, Ireland, a quiet field where small lives ended before they could learn the shape of the world. The children may have played on that soil, laughed at rain or chased birds before fever or hunger took them. Their parents wept, dug holes and buried them without coffins, perhaps without markers, trusting the earth to keep what life had rejected. The ground remembers every child it swallowed, even when people forgot their names.
