What is recorded here
Enclosure in Garnagale was a rectangular earthwork thirty metres wide in County Kilkenny, visible from the air in 1966 but levelled from the ground before measurement. It sat among ring-ditches and a ringfort in reclaimed grassland, suggesting a busy landscape rather than a lonely ruin. The enclosure may have marked a small paddock inside a larger field, its boundary forgotten as fast as it was made.
In undulating terrain, in reclaimed grassland. There is a enclosure (KK012-052001-) c. 30m to the SW, a ring-ditch (KK012-052002-) c. 50m to the SE, an enclosure (KK012-051----) c. 100m to the NE and a ringfort (KK012-053----) c. 150m to the SE. A roughly rectangular enclosure (diam. c. 35m E-W; c. 30m N-S) shown as an upstanding earthwork on aerial photographs (CUCAP AOZ064, 13 July 1966). This feature has since been levelled and is not visible at ground level. It may have been a small paddock within a larger field.
