What is recorded here

Gallán was a four-foot standing stone in County Cork, broad at the base and thin at the top, but it no longer exists. Condon measured its changing thickness in 1916, yet neither the 1842 nor 1904 maps marked it, suggesting human memory preserved what official survey forgot. Its removal erases more than stone; it deletes the shadow it cast, the ceremonies it may have held, and the reason someone first stood it upright.

Not shown on 1842 or 1904 OS 6-inch maps. Removed. Condon (1916, 73) recorded stone (H 4ft; Wth 30ins) varying in thickness 'from 29ins at the bottom to a couple on top'.
