What is recorded here

Gallán is a diamond-shaped standing stone on a Cork ridge, pointing northeast and southwest across an endless view. It stands half a kilometre from another stone, as if marking a line no human hand drew but no human eye has stopped seeing. The shape suggests measurement, ceremony or warning. The emptiness around it suggests all three.

Likely dating to the Bronze Age, the stone may have had ritual or territorial significance. Local folklore sometimes associates such stones with early Christian saints or mythical figures, though no specific tradition is recorded for this site.
