Gallan stands one metre tall on the northwest side of a low cork cairn, its narrow edge carrying the name Lacavagni while violence or time chipped away four inches of stone above the carving. The marker belongs to a penitential station where a person may have bled, fasted or repeated prayers until the body agreed with what the mind believed. The three stones surrounding the cairn turn a private act of suffering into a public warning that transformation requires loss.

One of three ogham stones (CO058-039001-, CO058-039005) flanking a low cairn which marks a penitential station (CO058-039002-). Located on the NW side of the cairn, this is an upright stone (H 1m; 0.4m x 0.1m) with an inscription cut along one edge. Macalister (1945, 130, no. 132) read the inscription as LACAVAGNI. He adds that 'the rest of the angle, for a space of 1ft 41/2in above this word, is utterly chipped away'.
