What is recorded here
Discovered prior to road construction (Excavation Licence No. 00E0796), beside a stream towards the top of a gentle S-facing slope. Excavation initially revealed a concentration of burnt stones and charcoal (5.2m x 5.1m; max. D 0.5m). Removal of this material revealed a trough, two conjoined pits, a hearth and some 25 stakeholes. The trough was rectangular with six planks of alder at its base and on top of these was a large boulder which may have functioned as a 'pot-boiler'. The only finds recovered from the site were some flakes of flint débitage. (Ó Drisceoil 2002, 238)
