Maulcallee holds a broad horseshoe of burnt stone set into live bog, its opening facing the wet ground where water could be drawn and returned. The shape suggests people heated water for cleaning, cooking or ritual, then left the site to sink into moss and memory. Nearby marks such as the enclosure, standing stone and hut place indicate this was not a lonely heap but a small lived landscape.

In rough hill pasture, on blanket bog, on the NE-facing slopes of Knocknagullion and within a network of relict field boundaries (KE091-114009-). A horseshoe-shaped grass-covered mound (19m NW-SE; 12.1m NE-SW; H 1.9m) of burnt material protrudes above the surface of the bog. The opening (5.6m NW-SE; 5.6m NE-SW) faces a wet area to the SW. There is an enclosure (KE091-104----) c. 100m to the NW, a standing stone (KE091-114002-) c. 120m to the SW and a hut site (KE091-114004-) c. 70m to the ENE.
