Hot stones crashed into the cut trough, sending steam screaming across the steep bank where Ballylusky and Earlsrath still argue their boundary. People gathered there to heat water, cook food or ease aching muscles before the road works and tree planting buried the mound beneath modern haste. The shattered sandstone and charcoal remember that furious clarity: a small wooden basin transformed into a temporary palace of steam, heat and life.

On a steep slope on the NW bank of the stream that forms the boundary between Ballylusky and Earlsrath townlands and one of its tributaries. Excavated in 2007 in advance of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road improvement scheme (Licence no. E3391, E3645). A burnt mound (19.5m N-S; 15.5.m E-W; T 0.4m) that had been disturbed due to tree planting. A subrectangular cut (4m E-W; 2.3m N-S; D 0.35m) with rounded corners, sloping sides and a flattish base, may be the remains of a trough. It was filled with black/grey silt containing charcoal and heat-shattered sandstone. Three other fulachta fia (KK040-091----, KK040-093---- and KK040-094----) were excavated in the same area.
