Fulacht fia in Coolies

Fulacht fia

What is recorded here

In rough commonage, on level ground, between the confluence of two streams. A horseshoe-shaped mound (14.25m N-S; 12.45m E-W; H 1.6m) of burnt material, overgrown with ferns. The opening faces E. Inside the opening there is a roughly square trough (1m x 1.1m; D 0.15m), defined by stones which protrude above the wet peaty soil on the S, W and N sides. A narrow grass path lies between this and a possible fulacht fia (KE075-034002-) c. 2m to the E.
