Fulacht fia in Coolfore — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Half the site vanished before excavation began, leaving behind a thin layer of burnt stones and charcoal-rich soil above nineteen stakeholes. The fulacht fia sat beside a stream on fen peat at the bottom of a gentle north-facing slope in Coolfore, County Louth. People likely heated water there for cooking, cleaning or ritual, then walked away. The road took the rest.

Discovered prior to road construction (Excavation Licence No. 00E0795), beside a stream on fen peat at the bottom of a gentle N facing slope. Approximately half the site was destroyed before excavation commenced. Excavation revealed a thin layer of burnt stones and charcoal rich soil under which lay 19 stakeholes.
