What is recorded here

Indicated is a hidden ringfort in West Cork, its earthen bank still standing beside pasture. A field fence cuts across the middle now, but the circular shape remains clear enough to recognize. The fort has been forgotten by most people, yet it still marks the land where people lived, fenced or defended long before the inventory gave it a name.
In pasture, on E-facing slope. Heavily overgrown circular area enclosed by earthen bank, stone faced E->W. Field fence crosses interior on E-W axis. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
