Weir, regulating

What is recorded here

The weir (regulating) in Fertiana is in County Tipperary, Ireland. The 1654-6 Civil Survey recorded four eel fishings near Holycross Abbey. The 2008 inventory identified this as one of three surviving stone weirs shown crossing the River Suir immediately east and southeast of the abbey on the Ordnance Survey map current at that time.
Described in the Civil Survey (1654-6) as 'fower Eele fishings' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 64) in the vicinity of Holycross abbey. This is one of three surviving stone weirs traversing the River Suir immediately to the E and SE of Holycross Abbey (TN047-030001) as indicated on current edition of the OS 6-inch map.
