Ferm holds a buried chamber cut eighteen feet wide and eight feet high, waiting beneath ordinary soil. Men dug it with bars and patience, then forgot the entrance while the earth closed over their work. The chamber still exists, deleted only from memory.

Broker (1937, 54) recorded single earth-cut chamber '12 feet by 10 feet and 8 feet high' discovered c. 1926 on Tim Connell's land in 'Pairc na Cnamh'. McCarthy (1977, 244) interprets column of 'sledged' stone in one corner as construction pit. Exact location not known but Broker (ibid.) described it as lying between two forts '100 yards and 300 yards off' though not in a direct line between them (possibly 8698 and 8699).
