What is recorded here

Gallan is a missing marker in Cork fields, recorded on a 1937 map but no longer standing where pasture now covers the site. It may have pointed to a boundary, a burial, a meeting place or a forgotten road. The stone was taken, not lost to time, which means someone chose to erase what it marked.

Likely dating to the Bronze Age, the stone may have had ritual or territorial significance. Its removal and lack of surviving carvings make its original use or folklore unclear.
