Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Doolin

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Magic and life both claim the same place. The fort is a stone ring in Doolin, not a vague dream, while the fairy label is a story people told beside it. That is why it is fascinating: it is not fantasy or fact alone, but both tools for seeing one strange place.
In an area of undulating land with limestone outcrops within a field system (CL008-057001-). A subcircular cashel (diam. c. 28m) defined by low grassed-over stone walls is visible on Digital Globe (2011-2013) and was noted by Conn Herriott. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 26 October 2022
