Slievedooley holds a faded earthen ringfort that people still call a fairy fort, blending human history and local wonder in one name. The ridge may have served as a boundary marker, a seasonal camp, or a forgotten home before the fields changed around it. In that case the fairies did not invade the place; they inherited the stories left behind when the human names faded.
