Fairy forts are human ringforts misnamed by later folklore. Susan Curran identified this D-shaped grass-covered fort in Kiltoghert through a LiDAR survey, revealing a scarp, fosse and outer bank beside a low stream. It may have been a ordinary defended farmstead, small enough to hold a family and large enough to exclude strangers. The fairy label is a story told later, not a fact about its builders.

Situated in a low-lying landscape with an E-W section of a NE-SW stream immediately to the S. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 24m E-W; 20m N-S) defined by a scarp (at NW: Wth 1.7m; H 0.25m) SW-W-NE, which is best preserved (at WSW: Wth 2m; H 0.4m) and accompanied by a fosse (at WSW: Wth of top 5m; Wth of base 2m; D 0.2m) and traces of an outer bank (at WSW: Wth of base 9.3m; Wth of top 2.3m; ext. H 1m) SW-W. The perimeter is truncated by a N-S field bank and hedge at E and by the stream at S. There is no evidence of an original entrance.
