What is recorded here

Kilmoreen held a thirty-metre earthen ring on an east-facing slope, but ploughs and boundary changes have levelled most of its shape. A darker grass band still traces the hidden ditch, while a loose earth mound lies twenty metres north, perhaps cast out when the field was remade. The fort has become a faint shadow in the pasture, remembered more by soil colour than stone.

In pasture, on E-facing slope below brow of hill. Monument, depicted as embanked sub-circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. A circular band of darker grass (diam. c. 31m) probably shows line of infilled fosse. A large uneven mound of earth c. 20m N of site probably derived from enclosure and surrounding field boundaries which have also been levelled. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
