Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilcolumb

Kilcolumb holds a thirty-seven-metre earthen ring, its bank and scarp still drawing a clear circle through gently undulating grassland. The northern trace of an external fosse suggests a deeper boundary, while modern field lines cut the ancient earth at the northeast and southeast. People may have lived inside this simple fort, watching the horizon or hiding from rain, but the chamber has lost its wooden walls and human voices. The ring remains visible enough to walk around, marking a time when a small community shaped the land with hands and patience.
