What is recorded here
Cloonlara North holds a ten-by-nine-metre castle chamber for Mac Keggen in 1574, reduced now to a low bank and field wall. It is not grand, but it is exact: a small stone room set inside a wider enclosure, with a possible causeway running south. The land has kept the shape long after the name changed, waiting for someone to walk the causeway and imagine the door.
Within an enclosure (GA006-047----). In existence in 1574 when 'Cloghtrintynode' castle was in the possession of 'Mac Keggen' (Nolan 1901b, 117). All that survives is a poorly preserved rectangular enclosure (L 10m, Wth 9m) defined by a low bank overlain along N side by a field wall. A possible causeway runs off to S. (Knight c. 1975, 12)
