Fairy forts are human ringforts misnamed by modern imagination. In Grenagh South, a circular earthwork about 35 metres across stood on a south-facing slope, mapped in 1842 with a bank and ditch still visible to the north of a field fence. Ploughing and pasture work have since levelled most of it, leaving only a low rise where people once lived, fenced and forgotten under grass.

Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m), with field fence running E-W across S half of interior, on 1842 OS 6-inch map; bank with external fosse depicted surviving to N of field fence on 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch map.
