What is recorded here
Gowlaun holds a thirty-two metre earthen ring on a small drumlin, marking human residence long before modern memory. It faces a distant barrow across open pasture, suggesting the land was divided between the living and the dead. The fort still stands because people shaped it to resist forgetting.
On top of a small E-W orientated drumlin in pasture. A circular ringfort (diam. 32m) defined by an earthen scarp. Visible on Digital Globe (2011-2013) and on OSi orthophotography (MapGenie 2013-2018). A barrow (CL008-137----) lies c. 240m to the NW on top of a larger drumlin ridge.
