Fairy fort in Gowlane South, County Cork: a 37m circular earthwork with a 2.5m bank, gaps to the northwest and southeast, and a possible hidden passage inside. It sits above a stream, commanding the land like a chair pulled up to the edge of the world. People may have lived there, hidden there, or rejected it as fairy-made because refusal is often easier than understanding.

In commanding position, on W side of stream. Circular area (diam. 37m) defined by earthen bank (max. H 2.5m). Gaps in bank to NW and SE. Possible Man-made underground passage (CO050-095002-) in interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
