Fairy fort in Garvagh, County Longford, is a 30-metre circular earthwork with a low bank, external fosse and scarp on a pasture rise. The entrance has vanished, leaving the ring closed to human memory. It may have been a dwelling, a boundary marker or a place set aside for stories, but the earth has kept its shape while forgetting its purpose.

On a low rise in pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 30m) enclosed from NW-N-NNE and from SSE-S-SW by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.1-3.2m; H 0.5-0.6m) with an external fosse (Wth 4.5-4.8m; D 0.5-1m). Elsewhere the defining element is a scarp (H 1.2-1.3m). The original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011
