Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Descart (dartree By)

Situated on a slight rise at the bottom of a SE-facing slope and overlooking a small N-S stream which is c. 30m to the E. This is a circular grass and rush-covered area (diam. 40.5m NNE-SSW; 37m WNW-ESE) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 3.2m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.4m) SE-W-NNE that is reduced to a scarp elsewhere. There are slight traces of a fosse (at N: Wth 1.3m; D 0.2m) that has been re-cut as a drain SSW-NW. There is a modernised entrance (Wth of base 1.5m) at S that might be on the site of the original. The interior has become overgrown since 1968 (OSAP: 2005).
