Fairy forts are human ringforts misnamed by tradition, and Courtbrack held one of four aligned across the townland. The fort is levelled now, its bank absorbed into northern and eastern fences, but the 1842 map still draws a thirty-metre circle in pasture. The name transforms an ordinary dwelling into a warning, as if the fairies had claimed what people first built.
