Fairy forts are often called raths, but this is a true ringfort: a raised circular area thirty-six metres across, enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep fosse. The missing entrance and broken southern ditch suggest it was changed, reused or simply worn by time rather than built as a toy for fairies.
