What is recorded here

Cloontabeg holds a thirty-four-metre earthen ring where human hands shaped stone and soil before memory faded. The low bank still circles the level pasture, broken only by a narrow gap that may have served as an entrance. Modern fields have swallowed part of the outer ditch, yet the circle resists erasure. People may have lived, hidden or worshipped inside that small world, leaving no name behind. The fort endures as a quiet claim that the land was not empty.

In level pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 34.5m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.6m; H 0.1-0.5m) with a shallow external fosse (Wth 2.9m; D 0.2m). From WNW-N-SE the fosse has been infilled but its outline is still identifiable. From S-W-WNW the bank and fosse have been modified where the bank has been incorporated into a modern field boundary.
