Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cloncannon

Situated on a slight N-facing slope of rising ground in an upland area with a nearby motte (TN022-036) to the N. A raised circular area (diam. 38m NE-SW) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2.75m; int. H 1-2m; ext. H 1m) with an outer fosse (Wth 3.5-5m; D 0.5m) which has been widened by a modern drainage scheme and a possible external bank (Wth 1.75m; int. H 1m; ext. H 0.7m) best preserved form E to S, elsewhere destroyed. Modern gaps in bank occur at NNW and W with a possible original entrance gap (Wth 3m) at SE.
