Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cloghaneleesh

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Cloghaneleesh is a forgotten earthen ringfort in County Kerry, Ireland. It vanished from later maps and buried beneath grass, yet a circle large enough for life still lies hidden under the soil. The land keeps what people stopped seeing.
Situated S of KE008-010----, this was marked on the 1842 OS map as a large circular enclosure. It does not appear on the later edition, and no surface trace can be seen today. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 333. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
