What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not fairy forts. They are human ringforts, misnamed later. In Bettyville a true ringfort stood beside the road, about thirty metres across, its earth bank catching light on survey maps for a century. Then the northern half was levelled in the late 1970s, leaving only uneven ground and a gap in the story. The fairies never lived there; people did, and forgetting began the moment the bank disappeared.

No visible surface trace of site to N of roadway; ground surface uneven to S of roadway. According to local information remainder of fort to N of roadway levelled late 1970s.
