Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballynalahagh

Fairy fort in Ballynalahagh is a circular earthwork twenty-six metres across, bounded by a metre-and-a-half-high bank and entered through a stone-faced gap on the north. It sits in pasture on a north-facing slope, its interior tipping downward toward the entrance as if made for watching weather rather than resisting invaders. People may have lived there, excluded others, or simply marked the landscape before memory faded. The fairies never appeared in the measurements, but they remain in the name, waiting for someone to stop asking permission from the bank.
