What is recorded here

No visible mound exists in Ballybaun, yet local memory treats the absent site as a real chamber where hidden life continues. The forgetter may have erased the chamber from human awareness rather than erased the chamber itself. What is being protected is the distinction between recording and knowing. The chamber is not lost. It is waiting for a person who stops wanting proof and becomes capable of remembering.

On a W-facing slope of a rise in grassland. Circular rath (diam. 33m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The enclosing elements are much disturbed from NE through E to SE. There is a stone-lined causewayed entrance gap (Wth 2.4m) at E. A field wall cuts through the monument at SE and SW.
