What is recorded here
Thirty-three metres of packed earth and forgotten breath. The fort holds its shape because the land remembers the hands that built it.
Raised circular area (int. diam. 32.6m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep, partly waterlogged fosse largely infilled from N-E-ESE. Break in bank at ENE with remains of accompanying causeway may represent original entrance.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
