What is recorded here
Situated on a slight rise in undulating pastureland, sloping gradually to the W. Depicted on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map as a roughly oval enclosure abutting a field boundary at W and not indicated on the subsequent 1903 ed. The site is levelled but is visible as a slight rise in ground level (diam. c. 25m N-S) with a slight trace of a bank at N (Wth c. 2.6m; H 0.2m). The W side appears to have been truncated by a roughly N-S field boundary.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
