What is recorded here

Indicated is a destroyed enclosure on an east-facing slope in County Offaly, Ireland. Its twenty-seven-metre outline still catches the eye near low-lying bogland, though only a scarp and narrow fosse remain visible at the south edge. The land has been handling that shape since at least the 1840 map, when it appeared almost square. Whatever lived there has gone, but the ground still marks the difference between memory and forgetting.

Situated on the E facing slope on high ground with low-lying bogland to the E. Barely discernible outline of a destroyed enclosure (diam 27m N-S) defined by a scarp with external fosse (Wth 2m) visible at S. Depicted on 1840 edition of OS 6-inch map as an almost square shaped enclosure.
