Enclosure in Ballynabortagh

In tillage, on NNE-facing slope. Depicted as rectangular enclosure (c. 45m NW-SE; c. 45m SW-NE) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; low rise indicates line of levelled bank on N side and to WSW. Bank to E may be incorporated into field fence system. According to Macalister (1945, 63) Windele recorded 'a large square enclosure surrounded by an earthen embankment having a deep fosse outside'. He also referred to two ogham stones (CO052-03901-; CO052-053---) and possible Man-made underground passage (CO052-057---) here. Second rectangular enclosure (CO052-037---) c. 250m to WNW.
