Structure

This structure (L 2.8m min.; Wth 1.1m; D 0.14m) consisted of three timbers (av. Wth 0.25m; D 0.06m), occasional brushwood (diam. 0.03-0.04m) and small split timber fragments, all of which were orientated N-S. To the E and W of this material were two pegs (diam. 0.03m) set at angles of 45-55°. Only a very small portion of the structure was exposed within the development footprint and its true form remains unknown. Hazel, ash, birch and alder were all used in its construction. It has not been scientifically dated, however, it lay at the NW extent of a togher (LF004-024----) and is likely to relate to and be contemporary with the complex of features within Trenches 9 and 12 (Moore and O’Connor 2009a, 42-3, EDC 46).
