What is recorded here

This small platform (L 3.7m; Wth 1.5m; D 0.15m) consisted of a neat structure of widely spaced brushwood (diam. 0.02-0.04m) orientated E-W, which overlay densely laid brushwood orientated N-S. Pegs (diam. 0.10-0.03m; L 0.08-0.15m) were randomly set at 90° at its edges. This portion of the platform measured approximately 2m, however, occasional pieces of fragmentary brushwood to its S and E extended its overall dimensions. The brushwood was in good condition with up to 70% bark remaining on its surface. Species identified included hazel, ash and alder. Woodworking was evidenced throughout by metal-cut toolmarks. The platform lay 0.01-0.05m beneath a togher (LF004-008----). Radiocarbon dating revealed a date range of 900-790 cal BC (Wk-20959) (Moore and O’Connor 2009a, 41, EDC 44).
